Your Jokes aren’t Funny

Today the progress was mostly positive. Surprisingly, Joey woke up a couple of times today and was very alert. He was able to sign a couple of things to us (my back is itchy, your jokes aren’t funny, etc). That was pretty exciting for everyone, but he was really tired. Tough to remember to give him lots of time to rest when we’re that excited to see him awake.

The fluid is still a huge problem though. He is now 57 pounds heavier than he was before his surgery. I know that the doc said it was going to get worse before it gets better, but man. They are trying to figure out how to get the fluid out. It seems like it will take a while to do that. There is some concern that his kidneys are not working well enough (he still hasn’t been peeing much). Hopefully they come up with a plan that works soon.

All in all, Joey seemed to be in good spirits. He was even flexing for the surgeon tonight. Told you he was a tough cookie.
