Happy Dance

The tube is out! Oh happy day! He is still on oxygen for the time being, but the breathing tube being out is major progress and he is a lot more comfortable.

So far today he has been communicating clearly. He saw one of his lung transplant docs through the window of his ICU room today and pointed at her. She pointed back and then did a happy dance. Things are good.

White blood cell count is down significantly. Thumbs up to that. Kidneys still suck, but it will take time to know how they will function (or not) in the long term.

When his lung transplant doc came in to talk to him, he had a smile on his face so wide I thought he might burst. It’s good to have my baby back.

Awesome news!!!!! It just keeps getting better and better! And that’s the way it should be. Keep it up you two, and you’ll be home in no time at all (we have our fingers crossed for that, anyway). You’ve seen enough of hospital walls over the last couple of years I’d say. However, we’re grateful to those hospitals and the remarkable doctors and staff who have taken such good care of Joey. It’s really amazing what they have done for an amazing guy! And his wife, their family, and friends. Just awesome!
    XOXOXOX
