Richard and I tried to get out of our techno-phobic comfort bubble this morning by attempting to rig up a satellite device that would help to ensure my safety when I am “off the grid” on my trip. As any of you who have ever been to my house can ascertain, I typically strive to live my life off the grid and am quite comfortable with this set up, but I am trying to make safety a priority on this trip. That said, after how the so-called set up of this device is going, I am reconsidering my priorities. Maybe safety ain’t that important. This morning has turned into this afternoon, which has turned into this evening, which I am starting to suspect will soon turn into tonight and we are still trying to figure it out.
Whatever happened to traveling with a backpack and a walking stick?
